I have made and stored lots of little snack packs of peach leather.  It is a little bit fussy to make, but will be worth it when we can snack on yummy peaches this winter. This morning we drove up and dumped them unceremoniously on the curb of the Madison airport and came home and hung on the sofa and watched videos and napped and dozed all afternoon. I made 3.5 quarts of sauerkraut out of one of the cabbages in our fall CSA share.  By late December/early January it had sat in its cool, dark place long enough, so we pulled out the first jar.  It was yummy!  Way better than grocery store sauerkraut.  Best of all, we have finally found a good use for CSA cabbage. First up, crafting with the kids.  For the grandparents, we made tote bags with freezer paper stencils.  The kids make the drawings on freezer paper and I did the cutting and painting. I'm not sure how close we were to the tradition, but we used it to talk a moment about gifts and appreciating how fortunate we are to be able to share things with each other.
